Uninsulated roofs with single-skin metal sheeting can sometimes suffer from condensation when the metal sheeting colder during the winter. When warm air from inside the building cools on contact with the metal sheeting it cannot support the same quantity of water vapour and it condenses on the underside of the sheeting.
If condensation is allowed to form, it can drip from the roof, wetting the building’s fittings and/or contents. Excess moisture may run down the inside of the roof and collect elsewhere within the building fabric where it can cause rust, rot or damage to fittings.
The solution: anti-condensation fleece
Anticondensation Fleece is a condensation control fleece designed to reduce risk of damage from drips forming on single-skin metal roofs. The Fleece can be applied to all AS30 and AS13/3 profiles during manufacturing.
It is a self-adhesive polyester fleece designed to be applied to single-skin metal roof panels to prevent damage from condensation.
- Benefits of using anti-condensation fleece, ata glance::
- Slows the forming of condensation by insulating the sheeting;
- Prevents dripping from the underside of the roof;
- Drains condensation safely down the slope of the roof to a gutter.
- Cost saving over a fully insulated cladding also available (link to insulation article)
The fleece is intended for roofs of 7° pitch or greater: the drainage rate is greater on steeper pitches.
It consists of a woven polyester fleece with self-adhesive polyethylene film backing. It does not support the growth of bacteria and moulds.
